Journalist and author Lisa Loving is an expert on writing for attention. On Thursday, February 20, 2020 Lisa will demonstrate her superpower: breaking down the complex issues of media trends, ethics and information gathering so that even teenagers get it.
Whether you are wanting to influence policymakers, get your viewpoint published, or attract notice for your business, her presentation is for you. Do you have a strong opinion on a political policy or issue? Do you need help turning your perspective into testimony? Want to learn how to write a letter that gets results, or a blog post that inspires sharing?
Join AHB for Lisa’s lively presentation participants will leave with a smart argument on an important issue, and a solid strategy for bringing it to the world. Feel free to pass along the February 20, 2020 presentation flyer for Lisa’s talk by downloading here.
Lisa Loving is an author, award-winning journalist and media activist. As a longtime staff member and volunteer at KBOO Community Radio in Portland, Oregon, she has trained hundreds of everyday people in the tools of independent journalism. She has reported for WIRED, The Oregonian, The New York Times and published her first freelance article — on how to get rid of cockroaches — in The San Jose Mercury News. But she has spent almost her entire journalism career in community media, including a decade as news editor of The Skanner, an African American family-owned newspaper serving Portland and Seattle.
Lisa was one of the University of Oregon Agora Center’s “Front 50” regional innovators in media, and she is convinced that everyday people are — and have always been — key players in our media landscape.
